πΌPram
NYC is paradoxically both amazing and terrible for prams. Central Park, the High Line, and the Brooklyn waterfront are wonderful. The subway has almost no lift access: use the buses instead, which kneel and have pram spaces. Many station entrances have no lift at all.
π½οΈFood & Eating
New York is one of the world's great food cities and kids are genuinely welcomed everywhere from pizza slices to ramen shops. The sheer diversity of cuisines means you can always find something a toddler will eat. High chairs are standard in casual restaurants.
π‘οΈSafety
Very safe in tourist areas: Manhattan below 125th Street is genuinely safe day and night. Subways late at night are best avoided with young children. Healthcare costs are extremely high without insurance: always carry comprehensive travel insurance.
π₯Hospitals
NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell and NYU Langone are world-class with dedicated paediatric departments. The city's emergency rooms are excellent. Medical costs are among the highest in the world: travel insurance covering at least $1M medical evacuation is essential.
