Downtown Kailua-Kona's oceanfront path (Ali'i Drive) is flat, paved, and stroller-friendly, and most resort properties on the Kohala Coast have smooth walkways. Lava rock terrain elsewhere on the island is not stroller-friendly, so plan carrier time for lava field or hiking excursions.

🍽️Food & Eating

Casual spots along Ali'i Drive and resort restaurants are used to families with high chairs and kids' menus, and shave ice stands make a reliable toddler treat. Farmers markets are a fun, low-key outing with young kids.

🛡️Safety

Kona is a safe, relaxed destination; ocean safety is the main consideration, with calmer bays like Kahalu'u better for toddlers than open coastline. Volcanic vog (haze) can occasionally affect air quality, worth checking if your child has respiratory sensitivities.

🏥Hospitals

Kona Community Hospital has a 24-hour ER and handles most everyday needs, though it's a smaller facility than mainland hospitals. Pharmacies are available in central Kailua-Kona.
