Peradeniya Botanical Gardens has wide, flat paths that are genuinely great for a stroller and a favorite easy day out with toddlers. Central Kandy town and the hillside roads around the lake are steeper and busier, so a carrier is more useful there.

🍽️Food & Eating

Kandy's restaurants serve the same rice and curry staples as the rest of Sri Lanka, generally milder than in the south, and hotels catering to tourists have high chairs. The nearby Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage makes an easy, low-stress half-day trip that most toddlers love.

🛡️Safety

Kandy is calm, culturally rich, and generally very safe, with the cooler highland climate a nice break from the coast. Roads up into the hills are winding, so factor in extra travel time and motion sickness breaks with young kids.

🏥Hospitals

Kandy General (Teaching) Hospital is the main referral hospital for the region and handles serious cases, though English support is more limited than in Colombo. Private clinics in central Kandy cover everyday issues for tourists.
