Hanoi's Old Quarter is chaotic for strollers: narrow pavements are used for parking and street vendors, forcing pedestrians into the road among constant scooter traffic. A carrier is far more practical for the Old Quarter, while the French Quarter and areas around Hoan Kiem Lake are somewhat easier going.

🍽️Food & Eating

Hanoi's food scene is fantastic and generally toddler-friendly: pho and rice dishes are mild and easy to share, and family restaurants around the French Quarter have high chairs. Street food stalls are excellent but low to the ground on plastic stools, which isn't always practical with a toddler in tow.

🛡️Safety

Hanoi is safe from violent crime, but crossing the street is the real skill to learn: traffic doesn't stop, so you walk at a steady pace and let scooters flow around you, which takes some getting used to with a child. Tap water isn't drinkable, so stick to bottled water throughout.

🏥Hospitals

Vinmec International Hospital and Family Medical Practice Hanoi both have English-speaking doctors and are well set up for international families, including pediatric care. Winters (roughly December to February) can be damp and chilly, worth packing for if traveling with a toddler then.
