Fes el Bali, the old medina, is the largest car-free urban zone in the world, riddled with stairs, steps, and narrow alleys where a stroller simply doesn't work; a sturdy baby carrier is essential. The newer Ville Nouvelle has normal streets and pavements that are much easier going.

🍽️Food & Eating

Riads in the medina often cook simple, mild meals for kids on request, and Ville Nouvelle has international chains and cafes with familiar options like pizza and pasta. The tanneries area, while fascinating, has a strong smell that can overwhelm young kids, so time visits briefly.

🛡️Safety

Fes is generally safe, but the medina's maze of alleys is genuinely easy to get lost in and can feel overwhelming with a toddler in a crowd, so keep kids in a carrier and close at hand. Persistent unofficial guides can be pushy; politely declining and sticking to hotel-arranged guides avoids hassle.

🏥Hospitals

Clinique Al Kawtar and a few other private clinics in Ville Nouvelle handle routine tourist care with some English-speaking staff. For serious issues, Casablanca has Morocco's best hospitals, a few hours away by road.
