πΌStroller
Cairo's chaos β traffic, crowds, uneven surfaces, and the sheer sensory intensity of the Pyramids and Khan el-Khalili bazaar β makes strollers almost useless. A front carrier is far more practical. Organised tours with private vehicles are the sensible way to see the major sights with young children.
π½οΈFood & Eating
Egyptian cuisine is actually quite toddler-friendly β koshary (rice, lentils, pasta), pita and hummus, grilled meats, and fresh fruit are all available. Good quality family restaurants are found in Zamalek, Maadi, and near tourist hotels.
π‘οΈSafety
Generally safe in tourist areas with organised tours and reputable guides. Traffic is intense and chaotic β crossing roads with children requires significant care. Stomach illness from food and water is the main health risk β bottled water only and avoid salads.
π₯Hospitals
As-Salam International Hospital in Maadi and Cleopatra Hospital have the best English-language private care. The Cairo Paediatric Hospital is the main specialised public facility. Travel insurance with evacuation cover is strongly recommended.
