Cornwall is rural and hilly, and its biggest draws (coastal paths, harbour towns, sandy beaches) are a mixed bag for strollers: promenades in towns like St Ives and Falmouth are manageable, but the South West Coast Path has steps and steep sections, and beach access often means soft sand or cliff steps. An all-terrain stroller or a good carrier makes a real difference, and a car is genuinely necessary to get between villages and attractions.

Cornwall is known for its pasties, cream teas, and excellent seafood, and family-run cafes and pubs throughout the region are used to sandy, tired toddlers. Most restaurants in tourist towns have high chairs, though in small villages hours can be limited outside peak season, so plan ahead in shoulder months. Supermarkets like Tesco and Sainsbury's in larger towns (Truro, Newquay, St Austell) cover any supplies you need.

Cornwall is very safe with low crime, and the main risks for families are natural rather than social: strong currents and rip tides at open beaches (stick to lifeguarded beaches like Fistral or Porthmeor in season), and slippery, exposed sections of coastal path near cliff edges. Tap water is safe to drink throughout.

Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro is the main hospital with an emergency department, but distances in Cornwall are long and rural roads slow, so factor in 30 to 60 minutes travel time from more remote spots. Pharmacies are available in every sizeable town. NHS urgent care is free at the point of use for emergencies, and minor injury units in towns like St Austell and Penzance handle smaller issues faster than the main A&E.
