The historic peninsula's cobblestone streets (especially around the Battery and lower King Street) are rough on stroller wheels, so a carrier is handy for those blocks; the rest of downtown and the market area are flat and manageable. Rainbow Row and Waterfront Park are both easy, paved strolls.

🍽️Food & Eating

Husk and Poogan's Porch welcome kids despite their upscale reputation, and casual spots like Fleet Landing and the many shrimp shacks near the market have high chairs and simple menus. Sweetgrass basket vendors and King Street ice cream shops are good for a break.

🛡️Safety

Charleston is a low-crime, walkable city and the historic district feels safe day and night. Summer humidity and heat are the bigger practical concern, so plan outdoor time for morning or late afternoon.

🏥Hospitals

MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital downtown is a dedicated pediatric hospital with a strong reputation. Roper St. Francis also has an ER closer to some resort areas on the islands.
