Kid-friendly cafes and casual currywurst stands are everywhere, and most restaurants welcome children with high chairs on request. Markthalle Neun in Kreuzberg is a relaxed spot for families to try different foods at once. Water is safe to drink from the tap, so refilling bottles is simple.

Berlin is a large but generally very safe city for families, with low rates of violent crime in central tourist areas. Standard precautions apply around busy nightlife districts like Kreuzberg and Neukölln after dark. Police and public transport staff are approachable and used to helping tourists.

🏥Hospitals

Charité, one of Europe's largest and most respected university hospitals, has several campuses across the city including one near Mitte. St. Joseph Krankenhaus in Tempelhof also has a paediatric emergency department. Pharmacies (Apotheke) are plentiful and staff often speak English.
