Downtown Anchorage and the Coastal Trail are paved and stroller-friendly, though many of the best nature experiences (glaciers, wildlife viewing) involve unpaved trails better suited to a carrier. Sidewalks can be snow-covered outside summer, so a rugged stroller helps.

🍽️Food & Eating

Family-casual spots like Moose's Tooth Pub and Pizzeria are Anchorage institutions that welcome kids, and salmon-focused menus are common and usually toddler-approved in simple forms. Most restaurants have high chairs.

🛡️Safety

Anchorage is generally safe, with wildlife awareness (moose and occasionally bears wander into town) being the main extra precaution for families. Long summer daylight hours are great for sightseeing but can disrupt toddler bedtimes, so pack blackout curtains or an eye mask.

🏥Hospitals

Providence Alaska Medical Center has a dedicated children's hospital and is the region's top facility, serving as the referral hospital for the whole state. Pharmacies are widely available in the city center.
