Condado and Isla Verde have wide, resort-lined sidewalks that work well for strollers. Old San Juan's blue cobblestone streets are beautiful but genuinely bumpy, a carrier is more practical there. Public buses (AMA) have space for strollers if you want to skip the walk between neighborhoods.

As part of the US, food safety standards and familiar chains are widely available alongside local favorites like mofongo and tostones, most restaurants happily accommodate kids. Tap water is safe to drink throughout San Juan. Supermarkets stock the same baby food and formula brands as the US mainland.

Condado, Isla Verde, and Old San Juan are well-touristed and generally safe for families, with a visible police presence. Some areas of greater San Juan have higher crime rates, so stick to the main tourist zones and use registered taxis or rideshare elsewhere. Ocean currents can be strong on the Atlantic-facing beaches, choose Condado's calmer stretches for young kids.

HIMA San Pablo and Auxilio Mutuo are well-equipped hospitals with English-speaking staff (English is widely spoken in healthcare) and pediatric care, and as a US territory, standards mirror the mainland. Pharmacies (Walgreens, CVS) are everywhere. US health insurance and many US-based travel policies apply directly here, simplifying coverage.
