The riverside promenade along the Tonle Sap and Mekong is the most stroller-friendly stretch in the city, with wide paved paths and river breezes. Away from there, sidewalks are inconsistent and often blocked by parked motorbikes, so a carrier or lightweight umbrella stroller works best for the Central Market and side streets.

🍽️Food & Eating

Khmer food is generally mild and rice-based, and riverside restaurants offer familiar options like fried rice, noodles, and fruit shakes. Bottled water is standard everywhere, and street food stalls near tourist areas are used to serving families, though it's worth choosing stalls with visible turnover for the freshest ingredients.

🛡️Safety

Phnom Penh is safe for families day to day, with the main hazards being traffic (crossing streets takes practice, walk slowly and predictably) and petty theft like bag-snatching from moving motorbikes. Dengue is present year-round but peaks in the rainy season (May to Oct), so pack repellent regardless of when you visit.

🏥Hospitals

Royal Phnom Penh Hospital and Sunrise Japan Hospital both offer international-standard care with English-speaking staff and are the preferred choices for tourists. Calmette Hospital is the main public referral hospital; for complex cases, many expats still evacuate to Bangkok.
