Westmorland General Hospital in Kendal has an urgent care unit and sees children, though the nearest full A&E is at the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle, over an hour's drive from the southern lakes. Pharmacies in Windermere, Ambleside, and Keswick cover everyday needs like fever medicine.
