Parent Tips

🚼Pram

Barbados has generally good, wide roads and paved areas around the south and west coast resort strips, comfortable for strollers. Bridgetown's historic center (a UNESCO site) has narrower, older pavements. Boardwalks like the Hastings Rocks path are a stroller-friendly way to see the coast.

🍽️Food & Eating

Family-run cookshops and resort restaurants alike are used to serving kids, and flying fish and cou-cou (the national dish) are mild and easy to try. Supermarkets carry familiar international baby products. Tap water is safe to drink, Barbados has excellent water quality.

πŸ›‘οΈSafety

Barbados is one of the more stable, low-crime Caribbean islands, and the main tourist corridor along the south and west coasts feels comfortable for families day and night. Sea conditions vary a lot between the calm west coast and rougher east (Atlantic) coast, so pick beaches accordingly for young swimmers. Sun protection is essential year-round.

πŸ₯Hospitals

Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Bridgetown is the main public facility and treats tourists, while private clinics like Sparman Clinic offer quicker, English-speaking care for routine issues. Pharmacies are easy to find across the island. Standard travel insurance is generally sufficient given the reasonably strong local healthcare system.
