Yogyakarta's temple sites are the main challenge: Borobudur and Prambanan both involve significant stone steps and uneven ancient terrain, so a carrier works far better than a stroller for those visits. The city center around Malioboro Street has patchy but passable pavements.

🍽️Food & Eating

Yogyakarta is easygoing with young children: warungs and family restaurants around Malioboro and the Kraton area are used to tourists, and gudeg (the local specialty) is mild and easy for kids to try. International chains and supermarkets fill any gaps.

🛡️Safety

Yogyakarta is relaxed and welcoming, with lower traffic intensity than Jakarta, though becak (pedicab) and motorbike traffic still requires care when crossing streets. Mount Merapi, an active volcano nearby, is monitored closely and rarely affects travel plans, but it's worth checking current alert status before visiting areas close to it.

🏥Hospitals

Bethesda Hospital and JIH (Jogja International Hospital) both handle tourist medical needs with some English-speaking staff, though care is more limited than in Jakarta or Bali. For anything serious, many visitors consider transferring to a larger city.
