Parent Tips

🚼Pram

Frankfurt's compact city centre and modern U-Bahn system make it easy to get around with a stroller, and most stations have elevators. The riverside path along the Main, especially near the Museumsufer, is flat, wide and popular with families. The old town (Altstadt) around Römerberg has some cobblestones to navigate.

🍽️Food & Eating

Frankfurt's food scene ranges from apple wine taverns in Sachsenhausen to international options near the city centre, most of which are relaxed about children. The Kleinmarkthalle is a good spot to sample snacks without committing to a full sit-down meal. Tap water is safe to drink throughout the city.

🛡️Safety

Frankfurt is generally safe for families, though the area immediately around the main train station (Bahnhofsviertel) can feel edgier, especially at night, and is easy to route around. The rest of the city centre, including the Altstadt and riverside, feels calm and well patrolled. Public transport is reliable and well used by families with prams.

🏥Hospitals

Universitätsklinikum Frankfurt has a specialised children's hospital on site with 24-hour emergency care. Clementine Kinderhospital, a dedicated paediatric hospital, is also centrally located. Both are accessible by tram or U-Bahn from most central neighborhoods.
